In the Patanjali Yoga sutra, the original text of yoga, it is mentioned that the first change you will notice after practising yoga is "Saumanyasa", which means happy and cheerful. You will be happy by yourself.

A young person needs to prepare for healthy ageing. The sooner we begin to practice yoga, probably the greater its cumulative effects. Practising yoga regularly can slow down the ageing of the brain and helps it stay young.
