Yes you can learn surya namaskar with your own. But with the teacher it becomes easy to learn and moreover the teacher tells you about the alignment and mistakes.

Some of the videos I've seen, provide no insight into your energy, movement patterns, or your mind.When a teacher teaches the class, he/she knows quite to some depth the mind of the person who he/she teaches as a teacher can see how it shows up in their movements, their breathing and their awareness of how all three aspects I just described meld together.
