Yes. You can also learn from book, YouTube channel but you cannot understand your posture is right or wrong. A Yoga teacher keep you correct till you become perfect in a Aasan (posture).

It is necessary to join yoga class,if you have not learned under guidence of certified yoga teacher.If you do yoga without guidance or your own,there is chances of mistake of doing yoga.If you do wrong practice there will bad effect on body and mind.
