It depends which training you do, if you go for a degree or 2 years course, you can actually learn from scratch there, But if you go for 200 hours yoga teachers training that is is affiliated to YOGA ALLIANCE, i would say you need to have some basic understanding or some practice of a year or two, where you know the basics of yoga asanas. They teach you 'HOW TO TEACH YOGA" not necessarily how 'HOW TO DO YOGA" from scratch . Normally they are month long course, and they expect you to know basic yoga, emphasis there is on the techniques of teaching.Having said that, you can never have enough practice to qualify, as you keep learning even after you start teaching. If you have fairly good practice of a year or so, and have somewhat flexibility, you can jump in. read less
