I've listed some ways in which yoga reduces stress, apart from giving you the "High"(secretion of certain stress-busting neurotransmitters) that is common to all forms of exercise.Hope it answers your question: 1) Yoga loosens up tight joints, sending fresh blood everywhere to reduce the physical effects of stress in our body. 2) It increases digestion, reduces craving for junk food and helps you get a good night's sleep. 3) Holding postures for a long time increases concentration and reduces anxiety. It also increases clarity of thought. 4) Inversion postures like Headstand and Shoulder stand reverse blood flow, increasing the amount of blood flow to our brains, stimulate glands (controlling our hormones) and have been shown to reduce the degree of mental illnesses, including stress. 5) Pranayama - Breathing control, slows down breathing and reduces elevated pulse rate, which in turn reduces chronic stress. 6)Finally, both asana and pranayama prepares our body and mind for gaining maximum benefits from meditation, the one biggest stress buster. read less
