The basic nature of human beings is happiness. We are born happy. As we grow, we receive millions of bits of information through sight, sound, smell, taste and touch and our basic state of happiness gradually changes to the state of fear, anxiety, and uncertainty. We start searching happiness outside the world around us. We strive to achieve our goals and achieve material possessions of various things with a firm belief to get back our basic state of happiness with which we were born. This search is unending. We do get momentary happiness and pleasure which vanishes fast, and it goes on. In this pursuit, we lose health, peace of mind and live in a state of stress and anxiety continuously. If we have to live with dignity and abundance the above process is essential but we have to find some other real and definite way to achieve happiness along with it. Let us try to examine this in a simple logical way. The happiness is our basic nature. We have lost it due to stress, anxiety, and feeling of uncertainty of future, a fear of something unknown which may deprive me of what I have achieved with great struggle. A constant feeling of unknown fear, something may wrong. It is clear when fear, stress, anxiety goes high the happiness goes low and when fear, stress, anxiety gets low the happiness goes high. Now the big question is how do we lower fear, stress, and anxiety?  It seems difficult, it is not, and it is easy if we entrain our mind. Now the question arises how do we do that?  To find an answer we look back to ancient life style. Our enlightened Gurus used to Meditate. Meditation in simplicity is a training of the mind to calm down. It is simple, take out twenty minutes daily out of your busy schedule to Meditate.

  • Spirituality in essence is to know the self and relating to other selves!

  • Meditation helps one to stay spiritual.

  • Being in meditation can be achieved in all circumstances, even when roaming in a shopping mall.

  • Mind always craves for the stimulation of senses: Food and beverages, good sight, melodious sound, nice smell, good feeling of surroundings.

  • If not for any of the above, stimulation for the thought is high on agenda!

  • Stimulation of thought like to read, listen or watch intellectual/spiritual/literary works.

  • Can we get out of this harping for this or that sensation and just be for some time?

  • Shopping mall provides great opportunity for practicing ‘being in meditation’.

  • It has all the glitzy stuff displayed through the windows of shops, food courts, cinema hall, and variety of people streaming in and out of this place.

  • Now it is easy to be in meditation. Just be aware of all the things (sights, sounds, smell and feel of the place) and cut off any thoughts that arises on any or combination of those sensations around. And see what happens in your being.

  • This practice trains the mind to be quiet and be at our service only if called for!

Most people tend to believe that all types of meditations are the same. It is common to hear about the benefits of “meditation,” but most people don’t know that there are different benefits to be obtained based specifically on the type of meditation practice pursued. One person may practice Vipassana meditation a.k.a. “mindfulness” and reap numerous benefits, while another may practice Transcendental meditation and get an entirely different beneficial effect.

Focusing the attention on a single object during the whole meditation session. This object may be the breath, a mantra, visualisation, part of the body, external object, etc. As the practitioner advances, his ability to keep the flow of attention in the chosen object gets stronger, and distractions become less common and short-lived. Both the depth and steadiness of his attention are developed.

Examples of these are Samatha (Buddhist meditation), Loving Kindness Meditation, Chakra Meditation, Kundalini Meditation, Sound Meditation, Mantra Meditation, Pranayama, some forms of Qigong, and many others.
In some meditation Instead of focusing the attention on any one object, we keep it open, monitoring all aspects of our experience, without judgment or attachment. All perceptions, be them internal (thoughts, feelings, memory, etc.) or external (sound, smell, etc.), are recognised and seen for what they are. It is the process of non-reactive monitoring of the content of experience from moment to moment, without going into them. Examples are Mindfulness meditation, Vipassana, as well as some types of Taoist Meditation.

Meditation is rest, absolute rest, a full stop to all activity, physical, mental, emotional. When you are in such a deep rest that nothing stirs in you when all action as such ceases, as if you are fast asleep yet awake, you come to know who you are. Suddenly the window opens. It cannot be opened by effort because effort creates tension and tension is the cause of our whole misery. Hence this is something very fundamental to be understood that meditation is not effort.

Meditation is nothing but trying to clean your being, trying to become fresh and young, trying to become more alive and more alert. If you are afraid of meditation it means you are afraid of life, you are afraid of awareness, and the resistance comes because you know that if you move into meditation, something is bound to happen. If you are not resisting at all, it may be because you don't take meditation very seriously, you don't take meditation very sincerely. Then you can play around: what is there to be afraid of?

Welcome to the World of Meditation.

There are many methods of Meditation. Given below is a simple but very effective meditation technique:

1. Sit in any posture comfortably with spine straight.
2. Keep your whole body relaxed.

3. If any part of your body is not feeling alright, just make little movement to adjust the whole body in a comfortable and relaxed position.
4. You shall keep your hands/fingers at ease and free. Alternatively, you shall keep them in Chin Mudra.
5. Keep your eyes gently closed.
6. Now, slowly bring your awareness and concentration on your Breath.
7. Let the breathing happen by itself. You don’t be a part of breathing activity.
8. Let it happen by itself. You be a simple witness or an observer.
9. While you keep observing your breath, some of your thoughts will distract you from observation.
10. Don’t Worry. Be Happy. It is the nature of your Mind.
11. If you feel any distraction, simply bring your attention back to your breath…You may need to do this many times during the initial days of meditation practice.
12. Continue this for about 15 to 20 Minutes a day.
13. You will feel and experience a positive difference by yourself.
14. Make this practice a part of your daily life.

Be Aware. Be Blissful.

Get Busy

When you recognize a negative thought, get busy. If you simply sit, you will keep thinking a lot.

Improve circulation in your body

If your head is filled with too many thoughts, lie down on the floor and keep rolling and you will see the circulation in the body improves. When circulation improves then the mind feels better. That is the reason they do shayana pradakshinam (a form of worship done by rolling on the floor). Experience it and see how there is a change in your mind.

Shake hands with negative thoughts

If you keep resisting negative thoughts, and try to push them away, then they will follow you like a ghost. Shake hands with your negative thoughts. Tell them, ‘Come here and sit with me. I will not leave you’, and you will see how they quickly disappear. Thoughts are scared of you.

If you get scared of negative thoughts then they will control you. But if you shake hands with them, then they will disappear.

Pranayama and Meditation

Pranayama and Meditation is the best way to apply brakes in the buzzing mind. It is very effective and instantly calms your mind down.

Intestinal Cleansing

if you are bombarded with too many negative thoughts, know that something must be wrong with your bowel movement. Do Shankh Prakshalan (intestinal cleansing). That would also help.

Move Around

Get up, do your exercise, sing, dance, do yoga, meditation, pranayama; all these will help.

Become a witness to your thoughts

You cannot stop a thought or know a thought before it comes. And when it comes, it also goes away immediately. If you are a witness to the thought, it simply drifts away and vanishes. But if you hold on to it and chew on it, then it stays with you.Thoughts come and go, but that which is the basis of thoughts – is the atma (soul). And that is what you are. You are like the sky, and thoughts are like clouds. This could be the nearest example one can give. Clouds come and go in the sky, but can they disturb or limit the vastness of the sky in any way? No, not at all.

So when you fly above the clouds, when you go beyond the clouds, you see that the sky is untouched. It is the same, it is unchanged. It is only the thoughts which keep moving. This is what happens in meditation. When you come into Sakshi bhaav, i.e., when you simply become a witness to the thoughts.

We do not have to attach ourselves to the thoughts. That is foolishness. Whether they are good thoughts, or bad thoughts – they come and go. You are far above and beyond all this. This is called the Vihangam Maarg – it means rising above thoughts and seeing that you have nothing to do with these moving thoughts.

YES THE THIRD EYE IS REAL!!!

The concept of the third eye started with Sanatan Dharma where Shiva is suppose to have a third eye and is called TRIYAMBHAKESHWARA.

SPIRITUALLY-The third eye is the eye of vision. The two physical eyes are just sensory organs. They feed the mind with all kinds of nonsense, because what you see is not the truth. You see this person or that person and you think something about him, but you are not able to see the Shiva in him. You see things the way it is necessary for your survival. Another creature sees it another way, as is necessary for its survival. This is why we say this world is maya. Maya means it is illusory. We are not saying that existence is illusory. We are only saying the way you are perceiving it is illusory. So another eye, an eye of deeper penetration, has to be opened up. The third eye means your perception has gone beyond the dualities of life. You are able to see life just the way it is, not just the way that is necessary for your survival.

SCIENTIFICALLY-

Pineal gland is a cone shaped gland in the midst of brain and most significant part of the brain. You can say below the soft portion of the skull which can be felt in infants is very important in terms of conscious ness. It can be said as mind’s eye or the third eye or the sixth sense . What makes it so special is that a vast amount of energy and blood flows through it more than any other gland in the human body. It is now believed that it helps to regulate the functions of Pitutary gland .

It is said that when the pineal gland or 'third eye' is awakened, one is able to see beyond space time into time space. It raises the frequency on which one operates and moves one into a higher consciousness. With more research it is being realized that it is essentially a spiritual antenna the mystical third eye of ‘lord Shiva’. For many eons, the third eye has been seen as a way to reach higher levels of consciousness while still being present in a physical body. This concept of the pineal gland being the “seat of the soul” or the “spiritual gateway to all realms and all dimensions” This notion of the third eye is scientific fact. The purpose of this third eye is the key here, which opens the door to the metaphysical interpretations that ancient wisdom talks about.

The pineal gland is also responsible for secreting two extremely vital brain fluids related to our mental health. Those are, melatonin, which is the hormone that induces sleep, and serotonin, which is the chemical that helps to maintain a happy, healthy balanced mental state of mind, among other functions. By activating the pineal gland one can have live body experience into the universe as explained by our sages. Rishi Vishvamitra is one very significant example. Vedvayas and rishi valmiki are few other who could look into future and universe both, the pineal gland is active in the infants as it is said that the infant directly receive the cosmic energy for their survival. There after pineal gland gets inactive / calcified and it can be witnessed as early as 2-yrs. Of age and calcification rate tend to increase with age. The calcification occurs due to our environment and our lifestyle habits? Are our children’s pineal glands being suppressed on purpose? Children are seen as the most spiritual beings as they don’t have any of the fears or concerns of adults when they are born. They are born free and full of unconditional love. It is society that places these fears and conditioning on our children. It would be interesting to know what would happen if a child’s pineal gland wasn’t affected by its environment and was allowed to develop, grow and be activated.

How to decalcify it… accumulation fluoride and calcium phosphate crystals found in the body. Again to decalcify / awaken the pineal gland meditation and prayers are said to be best. Meditation needs to be done in dark room till the gland gets decalcified. Breathing exercises especially deep breathing helps in more of oxygen flow to the gland. green leafy vegetables help to detoxify the body. Garlic is said to be playing a great role in decalcification. Fresh lime and other citrus fruits are supposed to be good and a simple balanced vegetarian meal with a healthy life style goes long way to open this gate way into the world of our higher existence.

Scientists believe that by stimulating the pineal gland, will awaken or perhaps energize the dormant DNA, the junk DNA. All of this is happening to take us to a higher place we are calling ascension. You can be an unlimited source of vibrating energy. With more findings about the mysteries of pineal gland the scientists do believe that yes, it can be possible to travel in the cosmos through meditation and yogic discipline which eastern mystics have been talking about.
