Awakening is collapsable, you can fall back again to old default ways, automatic robotic ways of the brain to eat sleep and die.
Enlightenment is irreversible, once you get that you will never fall back.

But for enlightenment a massive change is required in neural network and old habits also we need to catch any bad habit before it arrives and not loose our flow/rhythm by thinking too hard and not performing spiritual practices like proper guided meditation eg. Kriya Yoga, Isha kriya, Osho dynamic meditation etc under a good guru because a wrong meditation can cause insomnia also.
