In my yoga classes have found several students commenting on relief of pain, more peaceful living, and being happier than ever. Some of the students got their back pain relieved and some got relieved from severe sciatica pain.

It is good to learn Yoga from an experienced teacher first and then follow books. This is my personal experience. However, the book that you can follow is "Asana, Pranayama Mudra Bandha", authored by Swami Satyananda Saraswati. This book is my favorite.
