Interphase – Cell prepares for division
1. G1 phase (Gap 1) – Cell grows and performs normal functions.
2. S phase (Synthesis) – DNA is replicated (each chromosome duplicates).
3. G2 phase (Gap 2) – Cell continues to grow and prepares for mitosis by producing proteins and organelles.
M phase (Mitosis) – Cell divides its nucleus and cytoplasm
1. Prophase – Chromosomes condense, spindle fibers form, and the nuclear envelope breaks down.
2. Metaphase – Chromosomes line up in the center (metaphase plate) of the cell.
3. Anaphase – Sister chromatids are pulled apart to opposite poles.
4. Telophase – Nuclear envelope reforms around chromosomes at each pole; chromosomes start to de-condense.

Valency of carbon: Carbon has a valency of 4, meaning it can form four covalent bonds with other atoms.
Property responsible for long chain formation: The unique property of catenation allows carbon atoms to bond with each other in straight, branched, or ring chains. This, along with the strength of C–C bonds, enables carbon to form a vast number of complex and stable organic compounds.

Cell Cycle has two main phases:
1. Interphase – cell prepares for division
2. M Phase – cell divides
Interphase has 3 parts:
G₁ Phase: Cell grows and makes proteins.
S Phase: DNA is copied.
G₂ Phase: Cell prepares for division.
M Phase has 4 stages (PMAT):
Prophase: Chromosomes become visible, nuclear membrane breaks.
Metaphase: Chromosomes line up in the center.
Anaphase: Chromatids are pulled apart to opposite sides.
Telophase: New nuclear membranes form, chromosomes uncoil.
