I have learnt Mohiniyattam under Smt Gopika Varma and under Padmasri Kalamandalam Kshemavathy. I have also been pursuing Kathak for three years. I have written articles and edited a book on Dance in India, titled, 'Scripting Dance in Contemporary India' and have a strong grounding in the theory and philosophy of dance as well. I earned my PhD in Dance and Semiotics from IIT Bombay. I have started an institute, SADHAKA, in Banjara Hills Hyderabad, chiefly to promote the beautiful and graceful dance of Mohiniyattam. My goal is to groom and present a group of Mohinis in Hyderabad, who can practice and perform the dance.
