I have over 20 years of experience teaching Carnatic flute to students from different walks of life and age groups. I have taught beginners as well as students with prior musical knowledge. My teaching includes classical, semi-classical, and film music, depending on the student’s interests and learning goals. I focus on developing a strong foundation in flute playing, including breath control, fingering, shruti, rhythm, and musical expression. I adapt my teaching methods to suit each student’s pace and ability, helping them build confidence and enjoy learning music.

A dedicated Bansuri artist and educator with 7 years of experience, I specialize in teaching and performing Hindustani Classical music while also exploring devotional, bhajan, and film music traditions. My musical journey has been guided by formal training under Shri Digvijay Singh Chauhan, a disciple of the renowned Vrindavan school established by legendary flute maestro Hariprasad Chaurasia. This lineage has provided me with a strong foundation in classical techniques, musical expression, and the rich heritage of Indian flute music. Over the years, I have actively performed at temple programs, cultural gatherings, and commercial events, sharing the soulful and meditative sound of the Bansuri with diverse audiences. These performances have strengthened my understanding of stage presentation, audience engagement, and the practical application of musical concepts beyond the classroom. As a Bansuri instructor for the past four years, I have successfully trained more than 20 students ranging from 15 to 55 years of age. I was in Delhi for around 8 years where I had the opportunity to learn Hindustani Classical (Flute) from the esteemed Guruji Pandit Ravi Shankar Prasanna and felt the depth of music. After becoming familiar with the important ragas of classical music I started performing in various stage shows and orchestras. I guide absolute beginners on their journey into the world of Indian bamboo flute (Bansuri) with a focus on clarity, devotion, and inner stillness. My teaching blends classical foundations with a spiritual, heart-centered approach — where playing the flute becomes both a skill and a sadhana (inner practice). 🌱 Beginner-Friendly Teaching Style: Step-by-Step Fundamentals: Lessons begin with how to hold the flute, posture, and gentle blowing techniques to produce the first clear note. I guide students through the basics of breath awareness, finger placement, and tone control — with complete patience. Swara Sadhana: We begin with Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Dha Ni Sa, helping the student feel each note, not just play it. I emphasize correct fingering, slow transitions, and developing the ear to recognize and stabilize each swara. Alankars (Note Patterns): Simple, beautiful note patterns are taught to build fluidity in fingers and breath control, acting as the student’s first musical vocabulary. 🪔 Use of Tanpura, Metronome & Taal: Tanpura (Drone Support): I always introduce tanpura (digital or live) early in the learning process to help students develop pitch accuracy and tonal grounding. Playing with tanpura brings calmness, shruti sense, and a meditative depth to practice. Metronome (Laya Stability): We slowly introduce metronome to help beginners maintain steady rhythm (laya) — first in slow tempo, and gradually moving to Madhya (medium). This builds timing confidence. Taal Awareness: Even beginners are gently introduced to basic taals like Teentaal (16 beats) , counting, and simple compositions.
