The ETS (Educational Testing Service- founder and conductor of GRE test) has clearly suggested that a candidate can take the exam after a lapse of 21 days from his/her previous attempt (though it is not advisable :-)), 5 times a year.

You can take the test once every 21 days, up to five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period (365 days). This applies even if you canceled your scores on a test taken previously. You may take the paper-delivered test as often as it is offered.

GRE Coaching, TOEFL Coaching

You may take the GRE revised General Test (computer-delivered and paper-delivered) once every 21 days, and up to five times within any continuous rolling 12-month period. This applies even if you cancelled your scores on a test taken previously.
