Shilpa Abhiram, a Bharatanatyam artist has been practising the art for over 20 years. She is pursuing her career as a performer and a teacher. She is the artistic director of ‘Ekatvam Kalaa Shaale’ – A Bharatanatyam and Yoga Studio in Bengaluru where she shares her knowledge in dance and yoga passionately. She holds a Masters degree in Bharatanatyam and is trained in nattuvangam and Marga Karanas. She is an avid yoga practitioner and is a certified yoga instructor. She has received the “Kalemane Kalashri” international award from the Kumar Performing Arts Center, Mysuru for her contribution, talent and service in the field of Bharatanatyam and “Kalamani’ award for her excellent performance at Hosur Natyanjali. She has performed as a soloist in prestigious dance festivals in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and New Delhi in India and has travelled across different countries like Doha, Germany, Poland and France presenting her art. She introduces basic body movements to improve on the strength and flexibility and get a basic body awareness. The classes also include theory based on the Natyashastra and Abhinayadarpana.
