Yoga as a Healthy Way of Life

Yoga is not just exercise; it's a therapy that heals the body physically and psychologically. People believe that the practice of yoga started moreover 4000 years ago in the Indus-Sarasvati civilization that flourished in Northern India. The name Yoga was first found in one of the oldest books ever written in India, the Rig Veda. It is believed that Brahmans and Vedic priests first practised yoga poses. However, with time it gradually became available for common people from other castes.

During the 3rd century, 'Yoga' became a very known term in almost all religious books. Buddhist, Jain, and Hindu are the three religions that adopted yoga as a medium of connection with the spiritual world. It was also regarded as one of the best ways to find one's true self. Gradually, during the 5th century, yoga became a part of meditation, but it was still mostly practised for religious purposes only. Later on, yoga started to become popular because of its overall healthy approach to life. The more people came to know about yoga, the better they understood its importance and how it improves their lifestyle.
