Recently, we have celebrated International Yoga Day with 192 nations around the world on 21st June, 2015. It was a moment of great joy and pride for us to adopt yoga as a way of life by more than 6 billion people all over the world. The history of yoga in India can be traced back to 5,000 years and probably was founded in the Pre-Vedic period. The term ‘yoga’ is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘yuj’ which means to ‘yoke or harness.’ Yoga has been practiced for thousands of years and has various forms.

Over the years, people are waking up to various health benefits of yoga. Yoga unites the body, mind and soul and awakens the feeling of oneness with nature and the world. It is a holistic approach to live a healthy life by helping you discover the bond between you and the things around you. Yoga has multiple forms which can be practiced by everyone from different walks of life. Whether a person has an active or sedentary lifestyle, different forms of yoga are available to suit every individual’s stamina and needs.

Yoga helps to create a balance in our life, bringing our mind, body, and soul in a harmonious bond. Yoga postures are designed to put pressure on the glandular systems to improve our health and wellness. The primary teachings of yoga include how to love and respect your body, many people tend to give more preference to vegetarian foods and stay away from bad influences whether it is bad company or negative thoughts.

If one does multiple yoga poses for one month and leaves it, then it will be difficult to see the benefits of doing yoga. To see results, one has to include yoga in their lifestyle.
