No not mandatory, you can start with basic NCERTs and then read advance books. Follow current affairs regularly from the Hindu and read monthly current affairs magazine of Vision or other institutes. I hope this helps you.Thanks and Regards!

No. Classes are just to keep you in routine. If you can study by yourself then no need to join any classes.

Very nice questions ask. You can study regularly and self confidence in your mind you're preparing civil services exams .Seriously studying self confidence there is no short cuts preparations deep study. But some topics are difficult considering that your are joining tuition
