NET exam comes in 3 sub divisions. The first paper focuses on your knowledge on various general aspects such as english, data interpretation,communication, information and technology, research and teaching aptitude, environmental issues and general topics. This paper comprises of 60 questions and you are to attend only 50 questions. The second paper focuses on the basic knowledge of you subject and contains initial objective knowledge of your subject. It contains 50 questions. The final exam or the 3rd paper consists of 75 questions and tests you on your in depth knowledge of your subject. Hope this helps. Good luck. read less

The test, which will be conducted in three phases (one paper in each phase) will comprise of mainly objective type questions in two distinct sessions. As per the information available on UGC’s official website, the first session will comprise of two phases - Paper I and II carrying 100 marks each. Paper I will include 60 questions out of which 50 are to be attempted, whereas Paper II will include 50 questions (all compulsory). The allotted time is 75 minutes per paper. Meanwhile, the second session will comprise of only one paper (Paper III) carrying 150 marks. Paper III will include 75 questions (all compulsory) for which, candidates will be allowed a maximum of 2.5 hours. The questions in Paper I (9:30 am to 10:45 am) will be mostly of general nature, aimed to evaluate the research/teaching aptitude, comprehension, reasoning ability and divergent thinking in the candidates. For each correct answer, the candidate will get two marks. Paper II (10:45 am to 12:00 pm) will include 50 objective type questions - all compulsory - from the subject picked by the candidate. Each correct will earn the candidate two marks. Paper III (1:30pm to 4:00 pm) will include 75 objective type questions (each carrying two marks) from the subject chosen by the candidate. Like Paper II, all questions in this paper are compulsory. The questions in Paper II and III will be designed to cover the entire syllabus, including the electives. The candidates will require marking their answers for questions of all three papers on the Optical Mark Reader (OMR) sheet provided alongside the Test Booklet. UGC NET (National Eligibility Test) 2016 is being conducted by CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) in the month ofJune & December 2016. Aspirants who wish to be Assistant Professors and Junior Research Fellows must pass this eligibility test with flying colors. Candidates who wish to apply for the given test can submit their applications through online mode within the due date. Other details about the eligibility test are given below : Specifics of UGC NET Exam Pattern 2016 : Name of the Examination- UGC NET 2016 Educational Eligibility- Candidates interested in the test must have obtained Post Graduation degree in the respective stream or must be in the final year of Post Graduation degree level from a known University / Institution. Candidates must have secured 50 per cent marks in the final year examination. Age Group- Limitation of age is 28 years for the post of Junior Research Fellow as on due date and no limit must be followed by the aspirants applying for the post of Junior Research Fellow. Structure of Examination- The eligibility test includes 3 papers which contains objective type questions. 1st and 2nd paper will be of 1 ¼ hours and 3rd paper will be of 2 ½ hours. Paper-I & II will be of 100 marks and Paper-III will be of 150 marks. In Paper-I 50 outs of 60 questions should be attempted, in Paper-II all 50 questions will be mandatory and in Paper-III all 75 questions will be mandatory. Syllabus- The syllabus of UGC NET is available at the official web portal of UGC : ugc.ac.in . Questions of 2nd & 3rd will be mandatory and the questions will be asked from the entire syllabus (elective subjects included). Application Cost- Application fee is INR 600 for General category applicants, INR 300 for OBC category applicants and INR 150 for SC / ST category applicants. It should be paid in the form of System Generated Challan / Credit Card / Debit Card. read less
