The test is conducted for determining the eligibility for college and university level lectureship and for awarding the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) to Indian nationals for pursuing their Ph.D or research. Both these tests are held two times a year, mostly in June and December. But there are many candidates who are confused between UGC-CBSE NET and CSIR-UGC NET. Although the purpose of conducting both these exams is the same, there is a difference in the subjects involved. It has two grades of qualification LS (Lecturership) and JRF (Junior Research fellow). Since you have done PG and interested on job you may start teaching in any of the Engineering colleges and register for Ph.D also as an external candidate. You should also write UGC NET exam in your field
