Earlier I wanted to become a doctor, but later on due to family and all I jumped into engineering. Even I dropped a year for JEE Exams but if I cannot get into that I took admission in a UPTU college, now my engineering is about to complete but in these four years of graduation I did not learn anything. So now I don't know what to do, I kind of feel don't want to move further in this field. But what I can do next I am confused about my passion but one feeling I am having lately that want to help people directly,in the surrounding social issues and such stuff,so I am thinking why not build a career in Social Worker,so what should I do next. Please give your advices?

Deepak, I hope you are not so devastated as you have mentioned your educational life and thereafter taking strong Life's decisions. I would recommend you to take a pen and plain paper and write down your strength and abilities, get a more clearer picture that what time you have devoted in your life it must have some value. I trust you do believe in yourself and take every step thinking what would be the next good move. In that scenario you can go for a good motivational video session for yourself. Finally have a session with the persons most influential to you in your life also try to get a good career counselings. Nothing is difficult to achieve. I would prefer that you continue your studies even if you don't want to move in this field there are so many other options through which you can continue your studies and along with your studies you can be a social worker.

In life, we really don't get what we want. So Firstly, be thankful of what you have. Sorry to say but you have already waster four precious years of your Graduation. For whatever reason, when u had opted it, you should have done it with some concentration rather than cribbing about your past. Now you again are doing the same thing by switching to some Social Work which you are perhaps not sure of and eventually you will again be wasting your efforts. So Relax and Chill and think what you really want and if you are not able to decide for yourself, I am sure someone in your family can guide you better. Thats what family is for. So do make decision based on your family priorities and if u get a good job through placement, grab it and as far as knowledge is concerned, there is no age bar on it. So Get hold of your books and friends. Start learning concepts and make sure you get through the placements. and for the worst scenario, keep other options open like applying for govt jobs, private teaching, higher studies, etc. Best wishes. read less
