For maintaining fitness, 3 sessions per week is enough. But for Weight loss and muscle building, 5 sessions per week is advisable.

Thrice a week is preferable. So that you are regularly learning under the trainer & rest 4 days of the week you can practice on your own. Otherwise it depends on your availability. You can also go for 5 days a week if you can't workout in absence of the trainer.

This regularity will ensure that you develop proper form in all of your exercises. Muscle memory is powerful, and you don’t want to learn bad habits in the gym; they will hinder your results and possibly contribute to injuries. According to the American Council on Exercise, “Scheduling regular appointments with a personal trainer helps eliminate any excuses you might come up with for not exercising.” After you have seen the trainer consistently for two to three months, you may wish to reduce the number of sessions to once weekly -- or if you’re feeling comfortable, once a month. read less
