Smt Sutapa Das is a seasoned Kathak exponent and educator with over 30 years of experience in the field of Indian classical dance. She holds a Master’s degree in Fine Arts with specialization in Kathak from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, graduating in 1996. Her journey in dance is deeply rooted in the rich traditions of the classical Indian arts and the Guru-Shishya parampara. In 1995, she founded her own dance institution, "Nritya Shaily", which is affiliated with Prachin Kala Kendra, Chandigarh — one of India’s foremost organizations dedicated to the promotion and preservation of classical music, dance, and fine arts since 1956. Under her guidance, Nritya Shaily has nurtured and shaped hundreds of aspiring dancers, maintaining the highest standards of discipline and artistic excellence. As a certified examiner for Prachin Kala Kendra, she plays an integral role in evaluating students across various classical art forms, ensuring their skills meet the institution’s rigorous benchmarks. Her contributions extend beyond teaching; she is a mentor, examiner, and cultural ambassador who remains committed to the enrichment and continuity of India’s classical heritage.
