It depends on your learning style. If you are a concrete learner go for IELTS and if your learning style is more abstract TOEFL will be good for you. IELTS is conducted by British Council, Cambridge English Language Assessment whereas TOEFL is conducted by ETS (Educational Testing Service) a private non-profit U.S. organization. There is also difference in test taking method. In IELTS you need to speak face to face with an examiner whereas in TOEFL you need to speak in a microphone. Both are accepted by all major universities and basically the tests check your proficiency in the english language. Hope this helped you! read less

If you are looking at UK, Australia, Newzealand etc, then IELTS is better. If you looking at US and Europe, then TOEFL is better

Hi Kinsha , It totally depends on the country where u want to go n university. USA accepts toefl whereas Canada , uk, etc accept Ielts . It also varies in iwts whether u want to study or migrate to that country. Opt for academic if u go on study basis n if u wish to migrate then u may opt for general....
