Go through the syllabus first, Take a test to see what your proficiency is. Get assessment done by a professional. Prepare with a good mentor or friend who has cleared the exam before.

You learn when you are comfortable.

Practice everyday and then check your progress by giving mock tests

First of all, determine your level of English language. Accordingly, find a tutor to improve your English. IELTS is more about the English language than anything else. Yes tips and tricks do help but at the end of the day you will get a good score only if your vocabulary and grammar is good enough.

Hi Aditya, MIT doesn't accept IELTS score for the undergraduate admissions, but for graduate and doctorate courses IELTS is considered. IELTS band 7.5 would be considered a good score. Thanks.
