Objective: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to understand the requirements of the IELTS Writing Task 2, generate ideas for essay topics, structure their essays effectively, and use appropriate language and vocabulary

Lesson Outline:

Hello Everyone. My name is Lutoosha. I am your IELTS coach. Today's lesson will focus on preparing for the Writing Task 2 of the IELTS exam.

  • Task 2 which carries more weight than Task 1. Task 2 requires test-takers to present and justify an opinion, discuss a problem, or present a solution in a coherent and structured manner. This assesses higher-level academic and analytical skills such as critical thinking, argumentation, and the ability to organize ideas effectively.
  • Students are expected to write 250 words in 40 minutes. Do not waste time and manage it properly. Spend 5 minutes to generate ideas for potential essay topics related to common IELTS themes such as education, technology, environment, society, etc
  • Students must follow essay structure in IELTS exam otherwise it will reduce bands.

Introduction: Hook, thesis statement.

Body Paragraphs: Topic sentences, supporting evidence, examples.

Conclusion: Restate thesis, summarize key points, provide a final thought or recommendation

  • Use advanced vocabulary and phrases that can enhance the quality of essays.
  • Check grammar, spelling, punctuation.
  • Practice writing essay everyday on different topics. Set timer for 40 minutes when practicing. Focus on essay structure, language use, and coherence while writing essay.

The history teacher in my high school had so much knowledge on various topics of Indian history that he would frequently digress from the main topic and tell us interesting stories about the Mughal and Rajput kingdoms of medieval India.

मेरे हाई स्कूल में इतिहास के शिक्षक को भारतीय इतिहास के विभिन्न विषयों का इतना ज्ञान था कि वे अक्सर मुख्य विषय से हट जाते और हमें मध्यकालीन भारत के मुगल और राजपूत साम्राज्यों के बारे में रोचक कहानियां बताया करते थे।
We have to digress here a little and see who Bijjala was, and how he, a feudatory ruler under the Kalyana Chalukyas, had managed to acquire great political importance.
यहां हमें कुछ हटकर जानना पड़ेगा कि कल्याण चालुक्य का सामन्त ' समाज में वासी ' बिज्जल कैसे राजनीतिक रूप से इतना महत्वपूर्ण हो गया।

Fluency and coherence are very important as repetition and fumbling lowers your band score because this exam tests your proficiency for vocabulary, expression of ideas through spoken sentences .
