These markers, called band descriptors, describe your spoken performance in four areas: 1. Task achievement 2. Coherence and cohesion 3. Lexical resource 4. Grammatical range and accuracy To answer to your second question "What if you genuinely have no clue about the answer but can convey it in English?" Hi! IELTS speaking test is about content ,delivery style and grammar. However, if you are unaware of the aubject you ahould be manipulative enough to handle it . It is not necessary and not really possible for everyone to know about everything ,so if you can handle a conversation by talking about the subject without technical knowledge, you will be able to manage a good band.
