To explain you, IELTS (International English Language Testing System) is the test of English that assesses the speaking ability of the test takers.Examiners use detailed performance markers when assessing the Speaking tests. These markers, called band descriptors, describe your spoken performance in four areas: 1. Task achievement 2. Coherence and cohesion 3. Lexical resource 4. Grammatical range and accuracy To answer to your second question "What if you genuinely have no clue about the answer but can convey it in English?" On the other hand, answers that mismatches or contradicts the performance markers would rather not be considered for scoring. read less

Hi! IELTS speaking test is about content ,delivery style and grammar. However, if you are unaware of the aubject you ahould be manipulative enough to handle it . It is not necessary and not really possible for everyone to know about everything ,so if you can handle a conversation by talking about the subject without technical knowledge, you will be able to manage a good band.
