Lesson Summary:
The IELTS Speaking test is not a debate, not a Shakespeare audition, and definitely not the time to show off memorized answers.
It’s a friendly, structured conversation where the examiner checks three things:
-
Can you speak clearly?
-
Can you keep going?
-
Can you handle simple and abstract questions?
“Speak like a human, not like a headline.”
🔍 What You’re Up Against:
The test has 3 parts:
🔹 Part 1 – Introduction & Questions About You
(4–5 mins)
Simple topics like hometown, food, hobbies, studies, or weather.
Trap: Overthinking simple answers.
🔹 Part 2 – Cue Card (Long Turn)
(1 min to prepare, 1–2 mins to speak)
You're given a topic to speak on.
Trap: Freezing halfway or running out of ideas.
🔹 Part 3 – Follow-up Questions (Discussion)
(4–5 mins)
Deeper, more abstract questions connected to Part 2.
Trap: Giving short, vague replies.
🎯 My Winning Strategy: TALK
T – Think in English
I help students break the habit of “thinking in Bengali/Hindi, then translating.”
You’ll learn how to start your sentence in English — the rest flows.
A – Add Detail
If I ask you, “Do you enjoy reading?” don’t say “Yes, a lot.”
Say:
“Yes, especially poetry. I find short poems relaxing — they calm me when I’ve had a long day.”
L – Learn Connectors
Use words like “Actually,” “In fact,” “For example,” “But at the same time…”
These help you sound fluent, even if your vocabulary is simple.
K – Keep Going
Silence is dangerous. I’ll train you to keep the answer flowing naturally — even if you need to buy time.
💡 My Signature Hacks:
-
How to prepare cue cards using short story templates
-
How to avoid fillers like “uhhh… what I mean is…”
-
How to use intonation and pauses like native speakers
-
How to practice speaking alone without sounding robotic
💥 Student Doubts I Fix Daily:
-
“What if I go blank?”
➤ I teach a 4-line structure to revive any answer. -
“What if I make grammar mistakes?”
➤ IELTS doesn’t demand perfection — just clarity and correction. -
“Can I fake ideas?”
➤ YES! It’s your English being tested, not your honesty.
✨ Bonus Truth:
“Your attitude affects your band score as much as your grammar.”
Confidence, calm, and clarity — I help you build all three.
