In a typical 1-hr lesson, I usually spend 30-35 minutes to explain the key concept and the rest of 20 minutes I discuss questions based on application of concept. 3. To the point of tutoring, explaining key concepts with a set of Questions that clears the concept. 3. Providing constant support, limited number but carefully selected Homework question and feedback to overcome the area of development. How to help students who are right now in low grades: I have pulled my students from C and C- to B+'s and A's. This doesn't happen in a day. It needs persistence, clearly explaining concepts, engaging the student, helping them to solve problems first with little help and then independently. Most importantly to develop/rebuild interest in the subject again.
