Well playingwise basic chords and scale u can play on both but when it comes to play a particular style...Yes electric and acoustic have different playing styles and techniques. And of course as electric one has distrot sound and acoustic has clean sound which makes them different audio wise.

The basic difference is the electric guitar needs an amplifier and the acoustic usually does not have amplification. An acoustic pre-amp can be fitted for amplification. Both guitars have a very clear and different, distinct tonality!
