Yes in any vacuum place only gravitational force will work on it and there won't be any air to stop it from falling faster.

Yes feather fall faster in vacuume because only gravitational force acts on it but in air viscous drag acts on body in opposite (I.e upward) direction which decreases the motion of freely falling body.

Science Tutor

Yes, as in vacuum, no upward force acts due to air to resist the downward motion of the feather. So only mg (weight) acts downward that makes the feather to fall faster than that of the air.

The only thing that stops the feather to fall at the same rate than any thing else, is the friction force due to air in the atmosphere being significant in comparision to the gravitational force , the same friction thoughg acting on havier things as well is insignificant with respect to gravitational...

The only thing that stops the feather to fall at the same rate than any thing else, is the friction force due to air in the atmosphere being significant in comparision to the gravitational force , the same friction thoughg acting on havier things as well is insignificant with respect to gravitational force action on them, thus it won't cause significant change in rate of fall. and thus feather will fall with the same rate like anything else in vaccume under same gravity. read less

Yes as there wont be friction acting in the opposite direction.

yes, because there is obstruction offered by air resistance in air but there is no such resistance in vaccum.

yes ,as in vaccum there will not be any drag force to resust the motion of feather

Does Newton's 2nd law of motion contain the 1st law as a special case?

Yes, as per newton's second law, F=ma. Hence, if F=0, then a=0, which is nothing but the essence of the first law, which states that everybody continues to be in its state of rest or of its uniform motion...

A railway carriage of mass 9000 kg moving with a speed of 36 kmph collides with stationary carriage of the same mass. After the collision, the carriages get coupled and moved together. What is their common speed after collision? What type of collision is this?
The objects move together after the collision and have a common velocity. So it's a perfectly inelastic collision. To find the velocity we use Law of conservation of linear momentum. Given velocity v1=...
