Yes. You can study physics on your own unless untill you have strong grip on basic concepts. First your should have standard text books of related syllabus. But in order to solve the application oriented questions you definitely need one platform to discuss either it may online or offline.

Yes one can study oneself but the problem is its difficult to be persistent in studying a subject alone. So the curriculum helps a lot to study Physics subject/any subject in more effective way. If you study Physics just by reading books, you will not be able to complete the book and also very difficult to solve all problems of books. Instead if you join some courses like some Physics degrer, nptel courses then it will become easy for you to complete the task and learn effectively.
