School, college, university or an open entrance exam, certain rules stands the same for any occasion. Doing mistake in these basic rules related to exams is foolish and simply impacts the examinee’s performance. To help students score good and make any exam experience a memorable one, here is a list of six tips to follow. While students should ensure that they follow these six exam hall tips, parents or guardians should also encourage their children to abide by these. These are simple to-do-s whose preparation starts at home before an exam and ends with a flying score.

Carrying your own belongings
During usual classes, it is okay to share pen, pencils, geometry equipment and so on with classmates. In case of exam, you should ensure that you carry all the probable stationary and documents, that you need. Coming to documents, foremost in the exam hall ticket, registration card and admit card. Its safer if you can carry an identity proof as well. Put all these in your bag along with a bottle of water an hour prior you leave for the exam center. If you at the extreme last moment, you may miss out on putting in one of the essential belonging, that you need during the exam.

Reaching the right exam center on time
Before any exam, a student must go three mandatory cross checks. The first is, to ensure where and when is the exam scheduled. The next is the time duration of the exam along with the subject that is scheduled for a specific date. The last point to cross check is, the route to the exam center such that no delays happen in the examinee reaching the exam center.

Reading the question paper
After basic settlements that happen in the exam hall, the first step is distribution of question paper. On getting the paper, students still wait for the answer script to come and then start writing. The ideal way to go is, get the question paper and start reading carefully. Even if you find the paper is easy, try to read the instructions first. Then use a pencil to pick your preferred question from the ones with options. Invest quality time to read the question paper, so that you don’t miss on basic instruction or question format.

Getting answer script signed by invigilator
At the exam hall, do not miss to get your answer script signed by the invigilator. If you take extra sheets, ensure they are also signed by the invigilator. In case you change ink, by the margin the invigilator should sign. Right signature of the invigilator validates your answer script.

Least interest in others business
Once the bell rings and the official exam hour begins just become a selfish giant for the next few hours, till the exam ends. Do not look, peep or talk with others in the exam hall except to the invigilator, if required. Doing this will ensure your honesty on one hand and also, allow you to focus better on your exam.

Managing exam time
All exams have stipulated time span. Note, the total duration of the exam. Then get an idea about the number of questions you have to answer. Next to this, simply divide the time and number of questions, to get an idea of how much time you can invest for each question. Again the time you intend to spend for each question is highly dependent on the type of the question. To elaborate, the time you allot for a multiple choice question (MCQ) has to be lesser than the time you reserve for a broad answer. However, if you map the time management in advance for the exam, then your confidence level boosts up on the examination day.

The students should not read the question paper except first question. So that the students do not get scared.

Jayashanker | 10 Feb

Donâ??t ever get scared even if you donâ??t know few questions. Getting scared doesnâ??t help at this stage. You must face it boldly.
Read the question paper fully once and start answering questions you are most comfortable with. As you start writing them your confidence will improve and you will recollect answers for some questions
