I have students from 5yrs to 50+ yrs and I design my classes according to the needs and goals of the students. For the younger ones it's basically light vocal warming up and singing which helps in building up their breathing capacity, listening and responding skills. In case of adults it's more of vocal technique exercises, scales and singing, which builds up their breathing skills, listening and responding skills, improvising and vocal power. The genres they learn include classical, pop, gospel, rock, slow rock, a bit of jazz, rap, hip hop etc. Students either focus on skill building or on exams. So I design my classes accordingly and help them to train for their specific grade level. I teach one on one, group lessons and choir work. As my vocal range is between B1 to G5 , it helps me to train male and female voices and helps me specially with the 4 part harmony of choir. I worked with students of all ages, with very different musical tastes and aspirations. It was a mix of individual lessons, along with some group and whole class sessions. From 2016 to 2021, I was a part-time faculty member of Aatmalaya Academy of Art and Culture. I conducted group lessons in vocals and mrudangam.
