I am a Bharatanatyam dancer with 15 years of experience. Got trained in Pandanallur style of Bharatanatyam. Completed my MFA in Fine Arts at Kalai Kaveri College of Fine Arts.

Hailing from a family of artists I have been perusing the traditional art form of Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of the eminent guru Karnataka Kalashri Smt B Bhanumati and Prof. Sheela Chandrashekhar. Over the years I also had the fortune of honing his skills under the tutelage of legendary gurus such as Padmashree Adayar Lakshman, Smt Braga Bessel, Shri Kandaswamy Shankar, Professor. CV Chandrasekhar. Academically, Guru Devaraju has pursued his Masters in dance from Jain University. I have received various citations and awards like the Yuva Practice award from the Department of Kannada and Culture. I hold the prestigious state and Central Government scholarship for Bharatanatyam and is also the first candidate to receive the U. S Krishna Rao and Smt Chandrabhaadevi Memorial Scholarship. I had the honor of performing at various prestigious platforms like the music academy Chennai, Bengaluru Ganeshothsava,Nritya Bharati Ahmedabad, The Hampi Utsav, The Madikeri Dussara Utsav,The Bangalore International Festival, ISCON Bhramotsava, The centenary celebrations at IISc Bangalore,TTD Programs, Shankara Channel Programs,The Nataraja Utsava Bangalore to name a few. I started my dance career as early as at the age of 4 in Bharathnatyam under Vidwan Keshav Kumar from Shimoga and later from renowned institution of Bengaluru Kalakshiti, under the guidence of Professor M.R. Krishnamurthy Bengaluru for about 20 years. During those 20 years I’ve performed in many places like Delhi, Diu, Rajasthan, Chennai and many more places in India. Along with it, I have been trained in Carnatic music and Flute as well. However, it was the lyrical beauty of Odissi dance that attracted me towards it and initially started learning Odissi with Guru Uday kumar shetty and later continued learning dance form at Bengaluru’s leading Odissi dance institution, Nrityantar under the able guidance of well-known Odissi dancer & choreographer, Smt. Guru Madhulita Mohapatra. It has been my privilege to be considered among one of the promising young artist of this form. I regularly perform as a soloist and also as part of the acclaimed Nrityantar Dance Ensemble at several prestigious dance festivals across the country and overseas. My theater calling had taken a back seat right after my studies, which is now back in Action from last year as MALAVIKA of Kalidasa’s Malavikagnimitra - Kannada ROMCOM, a super hit Production from our new Team “Rangaratha - Indian Performing Arts Company” Directed by Aasif Kshatriya sir and Shwetha Srinivas.
