Whoever knows the subject and can make you understand the science of martial arts is a good instructor, its not about male or female..

Those who thinks male teacher for males & female for females are half right & half wrong. When you divide teachers by gender you are dividing your enemy. It's not about touching. If you are a girl and your teacher is a Man. you can simply get a female partner who will touch you instead of him. If you are a girl you have train and fight with a male then you will be able to make them down. When you train with a male teacher you get strength of a Man and will power to tackle Men. If you are too shy about getting touched then what will you do while protecting yourself or your siblings. You have to take the person down no matter is it a man or woman. So it should not bother you if your teacher is man or woman. Just call him teacher and think it's a teacher. not a man not woman. read less

On teaching aspect gender doesn't apply ,only knowledge matters. read less

Male or Female, doesn't matter, how an instructor view Her/His Students is more Important and Vise Versa. Basically it depends on Guts and Trust between Instructor & Students

Hi Bhavana, You can learn self defense skills in a month but to master them you need to practice for a longer period. With a good instructor and training partner you will enjoy learning it.
