Tango is from Argentina Salsa is a mix of Spanish and afro Cuban form. Both have different rhythm patterns. Instruments used are also different. In the case of salsa, it's like guitars and afro Cuban percussions. Tango has accordions/ flutes /pianos /double bass etc. and has 2/4 or 4/4 time.
