Both are easier if you practise a lot. Both are used for different purposes. IELTS GT is basically using for immigration and work permits whereas IELTS Academic is used for study purpose and for Australia PR it will help you to get good marks as well.

Both Academic and General have different difficulty level. For example, Academic Reading is difficult and lengthy and General reading is tricky. Listening and speaking are same.Writing task 1are different but writing task 2 are same(topics are different). .
