Being an IELTS coach is just like being a coach for any other subject or hobby. You are still a teacher so you need to know your subject and be through with it. Here are some things you need to be if you want to coach IELTS students: Know the IELTS exam inside out so that you can prepare your students accordingly. You need to adapt your teaching methods to your students You need to judge their expertise and then decide what they need help with Remember that non-native speaker of English can also score well in this exam Ensure that you instil confidence in them The most rewarding part of being a coach will be when your students do well in the exams and score a band 7 or higher. The most challenging part will be to manage the disappointment if they don’t succeed. One motivating factor will be that the more students you have the more you could earn but you’ll need to decide the balance point between enough and too many students. Also, the more students you have scoring in band 7+ in the exam, the more people will want to train with you. As I said, it’s like being a coach for anything else. You have similar challenges and rewards as those for someone coaching a cricket team or teaching chemistry. read less
