Writing module

The IELTS general training writing module consists of 2 different tasks: 

  1. IELTS writing task 1 (at least 150 words) 
  2. IELTS writing task 2 (at least 250 words) 

The first part is about letter writing. There are three different formats in letter writing. 

  • Formal Letter
  • Semi-formal Letter
  • Informal Letter

Some tips to keep in mind for this task are:

  • Have a good understanding of the scoring format
  • Keep a minimum count of at least 150 words 
  • Maintain a legible handwriting
  • Allot no more than 20 minutes for this task 
  • Always check the spelling.

In the second task, you need to write an essay of about 250 words. 

Every good essay consists of 3 parts - an introduction, a body and a strong conclusion. Make sure of the structure standard of the essay and provide a valuable opinion.

Reading module

  • Use the tools- skimming and scanning. 
  • Skim over the passage and scan for useful information. You need to complete the whole thing within 60 minutes. So make sure you don't run out of time. 

Speaking module

  • Feel comfortable with the examiner
  • Be confidence while speaking so that you appear smart and bright. 
  • Practise in front of a mirror.
