Writing in the IELTS exam is assessed based on four main criteria: task achievement, coherence and cohesion, lexical resource, and grammatical range and accuracy. Coherence and cohesion assess the logical flow of ideas and the use of cohesive devices. Lexical resource examines vocabulary range, accuracy, and appropriateness.
