I have also been pursuing Kathak for three years. I have written articles and edited a book on Dance in India, titled, 'Scripting Dance in Contemporary India' and have a strong grounding in the theory and philosophy of dance as well. I earned my PhD in Dance and Semiotics from IIT Bombay. I have started an institute, SADHAKA, in Banjara Hills Hyderabad, chiefly to promote the beautiful and graceful dance of Mohiniyattam. My goal is to groom and present a group of Mohinis in Hyderabad, who can practice and perform the dance. I encourage all, especially girls and women of all ages, who have an interest in Indian dance, to try Mohiniyattam, one of the most feminine, graceful and expressive dances. PHD Bharatanatyam, MA in Kuchipudi, Kathak Performer, guru and mentor. Training Students for Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, and Kathak Dance Exams in Different Boards Across India and abroad Internationally acclaimed Dancer and Dance Teacher My Gurus: Bharatanatyam: Padmasree Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant Kuchipudi: Sangeet Natak Aacademy Awardee Vedantam Radheshyam Garu Kathak: Gold Medalist Bishal Dutta Sir My Teaching Style I teach with warmth, patience and high standards. Every student is different, so I never use a one-size-fits-all approach. A child of four, a college student and a working adult each learn differently, and I adapt to each of them. I believe discipline and joy can go together, and my classes are focused but never frightening. My Methodology Strong foundations first: Adavus, hastas, footwork, posture, rhythm (tala) and expressions (abhinaya) are practised until they become second nature. Careful, individual monitoring: I watch every student closely. I notice small mistakes in posture, hand gestures, timing and expression, and I correct them kindly and on the spot, before they become habits. Three styles, one deep understanding: I teach Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Kathak. Knowing all three helps me explain rhythm, grace and storytelling in a richer way. Step-by-step progress: Students move from basics to full items, to exam preparation, to the stage, at a pace that suits them. Workshops for extra growth: I conduct workshops that give students new techniques, confidence and exposure beyond regular classes. My Results Several of my students have passed their dance examinations with distinctions. My students have performed on major stages in India and abroad. Students gain confidence, stage presence, discipline and a real love for the art, along with technique. What Makes Me a Great Teacher I am a performer first, and that matters. I have performed solo and with my students at major stages in India and abroad, so I teach what real performance demands: stamina, stage craft, expression and confidence. I don’t only teach steps. I bring out the best in every student, correct with care, and stay with them until they shine. My students’ success is my greatest pride. Come and Learn With Me
