First let us learn the basic names of the parts of the guitar. This will help us in getting a better understanding of the instrument.

The head has 'tuning tabs'.

The 'neck' of the guitar has 'frets' which are the metal-like lines on the 'fretboard'.

On the main body of the guitar at the edge there is a 'tail piece' from which the strings is connected. These are the parts of guitar.

Now let us understand the names of the strings.

E----------------------------------------------

B----------------------------------------------

G----------------------------------------------

D----------------------------------------------

A----------------------------------------------

E----------------------------------------------

As you can see that the first and the last strings are of the same name E. the first E is the high pitch and the last one is low pitch.

Now we begin playing. Let us just play the first three strings without using the left hand. That is to say that we would be playing these strings open. Let us begin!
