Completely depends on how much you practice. The instrument gives back what you give to it. Also I feel one keeps on learning. Yes you could start playing chords of your favourite songs in 2 months dedicated practice time.

Simply put the learning process will start the day you pick up the acoustic or electric guitar!! It may just take 30 minutes to learn a simple melody and to strum a chord. So practically you have learnt to play the guitar in just 30 minutes. But then it all depends on your goal as a guitar player. Learning the guitar is a progressive approach and you build the skills over a period of time. If your goal is to only learn chords, strumming techniques and learn few songs and instrumental pieces, then probably in 6 Months you will be good at it. If your goal is to be a versatile electric guitar player across genres, have good soloing skills, learn in depth of scales/music theory, learn to use multi-effects pedals, ability to compose your own music etc., it may take anywhere between 2 to 5 years. The time frame depends on your commitment and practice and more importantly be under the guidance of a good guitar instructor with a well structured curriculum and training method. So just pick up the guitar and start learning and everything else will fall in place. read less

This duration is to achieve minimum basic playing knowledge. The more you practice the more proficient would would become. It depends a lot...

There's no specific answer to that. Depends on the person learning and what he wants to play. The more you learn, the more there is to learn not to discourage anyone, but that's the way it is. However, once you start learning and put in some real time into it, start playing and you'll realize the answer...

There is not a big deal to learn electric guitar. It is just same as acoustic guitar but different electric functions. Any beginner must practice on acoustic guitar first.

Hello Pravin, I hope you you are doing well. To answer your question, I would say that it will take hardly three months to learn to play the electric guitar as far as basics are concerned, but if you are looking for perfection, It will take a long time. It is said that "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step". So, what we need to do is just start doing what we want to do right away, because this way we already come one step closer to our journey of learning anything. Best of luck! read less

There is a little difference on both Acoustic & Electric Guitar playing. It is a bit challenge playing an Electric Guitar because you need to have control over the strings and notes. If you are a beginner then start from an Acoustic Guitar rather than an electric.
