Yes we always provide a surge tank because some slush is flow with water & it make pipe line chokup so all slush is go to surge tank & pipeline always clean..

to avoid the effect of hammering of water on the inner surface of pipes other wise the pipe will burst if flowing water is stopped immedietly. this is controlled by surge tank by which we can control the pressure of liquids in pipes. shortly we can say to avoid hammering effect of water or liquids.
