If you start with normal speed, you might learn a wrong step and it is hard to correct it later. So start practicing slow, be patience and as soon a syou feel confortable, you can go a little faster. At the beginning it will probably depend on the floor you practice on. Some floors are less slippery and it will be pretty hard to dance on them. But if you practice on these kind of floors, you will be able to dance on almost any kind of floor later. As already suggested, try to do little hops. The “gliding” in shuffle is, as in most or all other dace styles, just an illusion. So your foot does not glide over the floor, it does a little hop. The better you get, the less noticeable this hop will be. So again, start slow, be patient and you will become a good shuffler :) read less
