Hello...I want to learn odissi and I'm 23. I have joined a class but my knees are weak. I'm wondering if I can continue to learn if I work on strengthening them? doctor said I have no problems but I'm worried that I'll have to give up after some years. Is it an utterly hopeless situation? Should I join a kathak class instead because it doesn't require me to bend my knees? How do older ladies manage? Please help.

And as far as kathak is concerned, yes kathak doesn't require too much of bending but is surely requires a lot of strength in your feet . Initially learning any dance form gives pain to your legs and arms because before that our body isn't used to this level of physical workout, so suddenly joining any dance form makes you feel a lil weak in arms and legs but gradually your body becomes used to it.

It depends on what dance form you want to learn. If you are looking for kathak then kathak kendra or Gandharava mahavidyalaya are the best institutions. These are delhi based

Learning kathak or any other classical dance form in 2 years is impossible . U need a minimum 6-7years of training. If anybody assures you of giving you a complete training of kathak within 2 years then report about him because that's impossible

No it is not possible to learn kathak or any Indian classical dance form in two years. You need a minimum training of 7-8 years to get the complete knowledge of this field. This field requires complete dedication and sincerity.
