My daughter is 5 yrs old. Seems very interested in dance. Is it OK to start her on Indian/ Western classical dance, or should we wait , or start her on some non-classical stuff first?!

Indian/ Western/ classical/ Contemporary really does not matter, as long as it's a true teacher who instils in her a love of beauty, perseverance and dedication. Ultimately, it has to be trial and error. Give importance to her opinions - expose her to different forms and ask her what she wants to learn, but be prepared for the fact that once she starts a particular form, she may not like it. Sooner rather than later, she will find her true passion. Good luck and happy learning to your daughter! read less

Western Dance Instructor

I suggest go for Classical dance classes first preferably bharatnatyam or kathak. It will help to make the base stronger and further it will be easier for the child to learn other forms.
