On applying a force on a body kept at rest, there is a force opposing the motion. This opposing force is the friction force and the direction is opposite of the applying force. As long as body is in rest static friction force works. This is adjustable force, which increases upto a limit called limiting friction force. But as the body moves the contact surfaces at molecular level melt and the friction force (kinetic friction) decreases . Hence relative motion between the surfaces is easier. read less

nature of surface is responsible for this as no surface is perfecctly smooth. thus surface friction is more at start ( static friction ) but once begins to move body overcome major part of friction and particles set in one directional motion thus friction reduces and then less amount of force require...

Sameer went on his bike from Delhi to Gurgaon at a speed of 60km/hr and came back at a speed of 40km/hr. What is his average speed for entire journey?
To find the average speed, you need to know the formula of average speed. The avg speed 0= 2 d / (t1+ t2) = 2 v1.v2/(V1 + V2). Just substitute the value.
