Let numbers are 5x and 6x (5x-8)/ (6x-8) = (4/5) => 5(5x-8)= 4(6x-8) => 25x-40 = 24x-32 => 25x-24x= 40-32 => x= 8 Two numbers are 5x 8= 40 and 6x8 = 48

Let the two numbers be x and y. Therefore, (x/y)=(5/6) x=(5y/6)........(1) Again, ((x-8)/(y-8))=(4/5) => 5x-40=4y-32 => 5x-4y=8 Putting (1) => (25y/6)-4y=8 => (y/6)=8 => y=48 Therefore, x=(5*48)/6 x=40
