Success in CBSE / ICSE Class 12 and 10 Mathematics Boards

Let the breadth be x, then length =x+2 (according to the question). Also, area of rectangle=length * breadth i.e, 195= x(x+2) x2+2x-195 = 0 x2+15x-13x-195 = 0 (x+15)(x-13) = 0 i.e, x=13 [x cannot be negative value, so x! = -15) Hence, breadth is 13 cm while length is 13+2 =15 cm.

Short method: The difference between side1 and side 2 is Two and area is 195 so we can do multiplication of side 1 and side 2 up to getting area 195 base area of rectangle = side1×side2 (formula). Such as 10×12=120 (not answer) 11 x 13 =141(not answer) 13×15 =195 (answer) Side1 = 13 side2=15.
