Scales means Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti, Do (that is Sa, Ri, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni, Sa in Karnatak Sangeetam). As many number of scales, the more pitch matching songs we can play. Pitch match means if I am singing a song in C scale, the violin player should play the song in C scale. If violin player plays it in D scale or F scale, there is a mismatch of pitch between singer and violin player. If you want to reduce tuning to half step low, ask a question. If we tune violin half step low there is less probability of E string getting cut. All strings should be half step low. read less

The string E is very thin so if we tune it last, it takes less force to keep tight. Otherwise, the E string should be broken.

Hi, I want to learn to play the violin, and I am not sure which violin to go for as a beginner. I don't have any local shop nearby, so I probably would have to order online. Can someone help with which violin I should buy?

You should always go to the store and check out yourself by playing on different acoustic instruments. Even if they look the same, the sound won't! Play by yourself and pick the one you like.
