It depends on the schedule you are comfortable with. On an average 8 hours daily for 6 months can help you befriend with the subjects concerned. A good mentor is also required throughout.

dear aspirant, in UPSC preparation you have to study all subjects.so start studying newspaper and NCERT books.after completing NCERT books you join in coaching school. without completing don't join. all coaching school will teach from 40% to above. from 0% to 40% you have to learn from NCERT books. so...

There is no standard time duration that is followed in the UPSC preparation.It varies from student to student. If you are good with your basics it will take you 10-12 months.You have to be very dedicated & rigorous during the preparation time.

I would like to let you know that there is no specific duration that should be followed. But it would be better to you to make a time table for each subject and give regular tests, MCQs to get high marks. At-least you need 3-6 months for preparation.
